Review of FP Markets Trading fees and execution models
FP Markets offers two main account types for clients with each having different spread and commission setups. The accounts include the standard account and the raw account. The standard account features spread as low as 1.0 pips for major currency pairs with zero commission. On the other hand, the raw account has spreads starting from as low as 0.0 pips for major currency pairs plus a commission paid. The account has a commission of $3 per side per lot.
The other fee charged on FP Markets includes the swap rates. The broker understands that competitive swap rates are important to any trader as they help them save a few bucks they can use in trading. Swap fees are charged when you keep your position overnight.
To find out the rollover fee to pay you can use the handy Forex rate calculator on the MT4 or the MT5. However, there is also an Islamic account suited for Muslim traders that follow Islamic law. These accounts allow them to trade without paying for overnight charges.
FP Markets is one of the brokers that offer both ECN and DMA execution to Nigerian traders. The broker streams price feeds directly from their liquidity providers. FP Markets understands that today's traders value deep liquidity and by connecting them to several liquidity providers, FP Markets can offer low spreads, minimum slippage, and ultra-fast execution. This works extremely well for traders using trading strategies like scalping via Expert Advisors(EAs) as this further accelerates the speed of execution.
When it comes to DMA pricing FP Markets clients can receive live market prices, full market depth, and direct access to the exchange order book. DMA module results in an order flowing onto an underlying market, competitive commission, access to leverage, and short selling. The DMA execution is available to traders through the IRESS trading platform.

Expert's critical opinion
from the author of this FP Markets Review
FP Markets is one of the most popular brokers in the market today. Its longevity in the market and gradual growth in customer base is evidence suggesting that the broker is well respected in the market. This can also be seen with regulations the broker has from reputable organizations such as the FCA, the CySEC, and the ASIC. Brokers that have top-tier regulations always stand out. Regulations help to keep the broker in check and traders can expect fair trading conditions.
To get the full picture of how well FP Markets serves its clients, we must compare it to some other top-Nigerian brokers. In this case, we will see how it fares against XM and Exness. First up, FP Markets has a wide collection of trading instruments that total over 10,000 different assets. In comparison, XM only has slightly over 1,000 instruments and Exness has just over 200.
When it comes to spreads, FP Markets is within market standards. However, the broker loses out in this category to both of its competitors in this case. On XM, the spreads are as low as 0.6 pips on its XM Ultra Low account. Exness offers even lower spreads starting from 0.3 pips on major currency pairs. However, FP Markets and Exness both also offer accounts with spreads from 0.0 pips plus small commissions paid.
Regarding the minimum deposit supported by the brokers, FP Markets does not fare well against both XM and Exness. Both of these brokers have a lower entry point with XM accepting a minimum deposit of $5 and Exness accepting $10. FP Markets accepts a minimum deposit of 100 AUD.
